What to knit when you don't know what to knit
Don't. Crochet! If you are having knitters block like me, don't knit. To me knitter's block is way worse than writer's block could ever be for a writer. If my hands are not in continuos motion, I go into breakdown mode. I start to look crazy after a couple of hours. Currently, I have 4 WIPs on my knitting needles, 1 on my sewing needle and nothing on my cochet hook. I think the latter is what has developed my knitter's block. I am a self proclaimed "artist", therefore if my creative life is not in some sort of organized chaos I get lost. So, what do I knit when I don't know what to knit? I crochet! I always follow a crochet pattern, so the not thinking of it unlocks my brain for my knit designing. Anyway, I am getting ready to enlarge a blanket I have already crocheted for my grandma. It started as a lapghan for her birthday, but is now on it's way to a full sized spread. It is a good thing it is a granny square blanket. It is from Crochet Today, nov./dec. '08, I made it with Vanna's Choice and a size J hook, instead of what the pattern called for. I will post pics for anyone who wants to see them. I will post a couple of my own patterns when I get pics for them. They will be knit, of course.
