Free Baby Gift Pattern

Here is a free pattern for a car seat blanket, basically a blanket with a hole in the center for the buckle. The blankie will not fall off the car seat making this helpful with you all that suffer from the horrific snow. We fight with the horrible a/c down here which with a new baby can be hard. I suggest if you are in a warmer climate make it with a cotton yarn or Bernat Baby Sport.

Yarn: Bernat Soft
Needles: Size 6 29" circular
Approxiamtely: 18" wide X 24" long

Pattern Stitch: Zigzag Eyelet
From: 26 knit Stitches

Row 1 and All WS Rows: Purl
Row 2: K6, YO, SSK, (K9 YO SSK) to last 5 st, K5
Row 4: K7, YO, SSK (K9 YO SSK) to last 4 st, K4
Row 6: K3, K2tog, YO K3 YO SSK (K4 K2tog YO K3 YO SSK) to last 3 st, K3
Row 8: K2, (K2tog YO K5 YO SSK K2) to end
Row 10: K1, K2 tog (YO K9 K2tog) to last 10 st, K10
Row 12: K2tog (YO K9 K2tog) to last 11 st, K11
Repeat Row 1-12 for pattern.

CO 96 st
Knit 4 rows garter stitch (Knit every row)
While keeping first and last 3 stitches in garter stitch, begin Zigzag Eyelet pattern.
Repeat 12 rows 6 times (72 rows).
Next row: K3, P38, BO 14, P38 K3
Next row: K9, YO SSK (K9 YO SSK) 2X, K8, CO 14* st (K9 YO SSK) across to last 5 st, K5
Next row: Beginning with row 3 continue pattern stitch to complete 1 Repeat.
Then repeat 12 rows 5 more times
Knit 4 rows garter stitch.
BO

*Cast On
Turn work
K 1 st, place new stitch on left needle
Repeat until the desired number of stitches is attained
Turn work and continue in pattern.

**Optional: Single crochet around hole to stabilize.
