Want knit time? Don't talk unless talked to. (While he is watching tv at least)

Are you having a hard time convincing your other half that you should be able to knit and not partake in watching tv? My husband could never understand why I wanted to knit while he watched tv - until one day I think it hit him - I don't talk unless talked to when knitting. I watch the tv with him, but I am not paying enough attention to anything to strike up conversation when I start to get bored. I have that bad habit - I get bored with what is on and next thing you know the smallest, most unimportant things of the day seem overly important, much to his dismay. He has realized that he can lie on the couch all afternoon on Sunday without me asking him to do anything as long as I have needles in hand. I think that he has come to enjoy it and looks forward to it because a once despised hobby has turned into a list of people I should knit for. I don't know if others of you have the same problem, but have patience - it only took my husband 3 1/2 years to realize that I was not gonna quit knitting!
